Hello and welcome to my site: Please be patient and kind as tech things are not my specialty!
I am Denise of Skin Ego Services. I earned my Aesthetics License in 1997 and kicked ass at it! I put on and showcased work in fashion & hair shows, did make-up for music videos, and generally lived the life.
After 10 years of this, car accident injuries and nerve issues in my hands caused my to leave the Beauty Industry and retrain. I took the Community Services Diploma program at The University of Fraser Valley, did my practicum at Surrey North Community Corrections, and decided I wanted to bring humanity and empathy to the Justice System (it’s OK to laugh out loud, I do now). I continued my training at the Justice Institute of British Columbia and became an Adult Probation officer in the Community Corrections Branch of British Columbia.
I supervised the peeps on electronic monitoring (ankle bracelets), then supervised real live peeps. I hung out with substance abusers, wife-beaters, pedophiles, thieves and murderers. I spent a year with a gang unit at CFSEU (RCMP, Organized Crime Agency). In the end being overworked and underappreciated outweighed the mediocre paycheck (Gas station Manager makes more), and the joy of watching systemic discrimination, racism, lies, misogyny and political shittery got to be too much.
So 40 years old, and here I was starting again. I offer specific services as there are things I am unable to do. For example I can’t hold tweezers for long, a waxing spatula, or makeup brush etc. The services I offer allow for my limitations.
BUT, the upside is that I have so much more knowledge and understanding to share. I am an advocate for mental health and women’s rights, and understand how intricately these issues are wound through daily life . And I respect that our minds affect our skin and health.
So, this is me now. All growed up. Please, take advantage of my skill and knowledge and let me take care of your skin.
