“Nothing Looks Better In Your 50’s than Sunscreen in Your 20’s”

Please, please, please…Tell me you’re using sunblock daily!? It’s your protection from the damaging effects of Ultra Violet light at the beach, on the mountain and on your rainy neighborhood streets. It doesn’t need to be a sunny day for UV rays to damage your skin, so make sure you wear it every day over your moisturizer.
It’s also important to understand the difference between sunblock and sunscreen, but first let’s talk about the SPF number as a time factor. It means you can stay in the sun ‘that number’ (15) times longer than it would normally take for you to burn. For example, I start burning in the sun after about 5 minutes (I know, it’s ridiculous), so when I wear SPF 25 I can stay in the sun {5 (minute burn time) multiplied by 25 (SPF)} for 125 minutes before I start to burn.
Sunscreen is a chemical layer (avobenzone and octisalate) that filters and absorbs UV rays to reduce skin damage. Sunblock is a physical layer (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) that reflects and scatters UV radiation away from the skin. So, sunblock is the winner for anti-aging and protection from skin cancer.
